Town & Gown: The Russo-Ukrainian War: A Historian’s Personal Account of Life and Death in Ukraine

Join us for our upcoming MSU AgeAlive Town & Gown presentation on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5 pm. The presentation is titled, “The Russo-Ukrainian War: A Historian’s Personal Account of Life and Death in Ukraine,” presented by John Vsetecka, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of History, Nova Southeastern University. The presentation will focus on the 1932-33 famine in Ukraine (Holodomor) and Russia’s current war against Ukraine. The speaker will present virtually for this session.
Professor Vsetecka is a historian who researches, teaches, and writes about issues concerning famine, the legacies of mass violence, and transitional justice in the Soviet Union and Ukraine. Vsetecka earned his doctorate from the Department of History at Michigan State University in 2023. During the 2023-2024 academic year, Vsetecka was the Jaroslaw and Nadia Mihaychuk Postdoctoral Scholar in Ukrainian Studies at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute.
Participation will be available virtually on Zoom and through a Remote Viewing site at The Peoples Church – East Lansing. The speaker will present virtually on a screen in the meeting room.
